The history of art of Caltagirone ceramics begins 4000 years ago, when a flourishing production started. From that moment the local population has always covered to the maximum levels all the seasons of the evolution of the ceramics, through the history of the Sicily in which domination's of refined cultures followed one other: Greeks, Romans, Arabs (that gave to the city the name of Caltagirone that means "Pottery Rock"), Norman's and Spanish. They continue today to create these inimitable objects decorated and handcrafted for you, born from a fusion of Sicilian-Arabs, Arab- Norman's, Spanish and Renaissance element, who marvellously represent the millenary Mediterranean culture.
